Chatty Kids – Terms of Service

Welcome to Chatty Kids. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) govern access to and use of the Chatty Kids website, platform, and services (the “Service”). By accessing or using Chatty Kids, you agree to be bound by these Terms.

1. About Chatty Kids

Chatty Kids is an online assisted reading platform that connects children with trained readers via live online sessions to support literacy development. Reading sessions use levelled digital books selected from our online library.

Chatty Kids is designed for use by children under the supervision and consent of a parent, guardian, or school.

2. Eligibility and Accounts

Children

  • Children may only use Chatty Kids with parental or guardian consent.

  • Parents or schools are responsible for setting up and managing child accounts.

Parents / Guardians / Schools

  • You confirm that you have legal authority to create an account for the child.

  • You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account.

3. Reading Sessions and Conduct

Chatty Kids provides live online reading sessions between children and approved readers.

Expectations

All users agree to:

  • Treat others respectfully and appropriately

  • Use the platform only for its intended educational purpose

  • Follow all session rules and platform guidelines

Safety

  • All readers are vetted and trained according to Chatty Kids’ internal policies.

  • Sessions may be monitored or recorded for safety, quality assurance, and training purposes.

  • Any inappropriate behaviour may result in immediate suspension or termination of access.

4. Content and Intellectual Property

Platform Content

All materials on Chatty Kids — including text, graphics, logos, software, and digital books — are owned by or licensed to Chatty Kids.

You may not:

  • Copy, reproduce, or distribute platform content without permission

  • Use Chatty Kids content for commercial purposes outside the Service

User Content

If you submit content (such as feedback or messages), you grant Chatty Kids a non-exclusive right to use it to improve the Service.

5. Payments and Subscriptions (if applicable)

Where fees apply:

  • Prices are displayed clearly before purchase

  • Payments are processed securely via third-party providers

  • Subscriptions may be cancelled according to the cancellation terms shown at sign-up

Refunds, if offered, are handled in accordance with Australian Consumer Law.

  • Our liability is limited to the amount paid for the Service in the previous 12 months
